Visit Billings Sales Manager

Visit Billings is seeking a driven, highly organized Sales Manager, Lead Development to support both our Sports Tourism and Meetings & Group Tour sales efforts. This role is essential to building and maintaining a strong, healthy sales pipeline through proactive lead generation, strategic follow-up, and CRM management, allowing senior sales staff to focus on relationship-building and closing high-value opportunities.

This position will require flexibility, including working evenings and weekends as necessary. Travel will be required for industry conferences, client meetings, and event site visits.

What you’ll do -
Lead Generation & Qualification
- Proactively generate new sales leads to support both Sports Tourism and Meetings & Group Tour sales efforts.
- Conduct outbound outreach, including cold calling and email campaigns, to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
- Follow up on leads and appointments generated through:
- Domestic and international trade shows
- Industry marketplaces and appointment-based events
- RFP platforms and inbound inquiries
- Qualify leads by identifying key decision-makers, timelines, budget considerations, and event requirements before advancing opportunities to senior sales staff.
- Maintain consistent, timely follow-up to keep prospects engaged and moving through the sales pipeline.
- Enter, maintain, and manage all sales leads, accounts, and activities within Visit Billings’ CRM and database systems.
- Build new accounts from lead generation efforts and evaluate existing accounts for future business potential.
- Develop and manage workflows that support timely outreach, follow-up, and lead nurturing.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data to support reporting, forecasting, and sales strategy.
- Support the ongoing improvement of sales processes through disciplined CRM use and data-driven insights.
- Prepare and organize materials to support senior sales staff, including presentations, proposals, and bid-related documents.
- Assist with the development of site visit and familiarization tour itineraries.
- Support RFP responses and proposal submissions by gathering information, coordinating details, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Help manage pre-trade show preparation, including lead research, appointment scheduling, and post-event follow-up plans.
- Work closely with the Sports Tourism Director and Group Sales Manager to align lead development efforts with overall sales priorities.
- Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, lead status, and outreach progress.
- Ensure a smooth and professional handoff of qualified leads, enabling senior sales staff to focus on high-value conversations and closing opportunities.
- Represent Visit Billings professionally in all communications with prospective clients and industry partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, hospitality, tourism, business, communications, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience in sales, business development, or lead generation may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in sales, business development, lead generation, or sales support preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting outbound outreach, including cold calling and follow-up communication.
- Experience working within a CRM system to manage leads, accounts, workflows, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new sales and database tools.
- Experience supporting proposals, presentations, or RFP responses is a plus.
- Background in destination marketing, hospitality, tourism, sports, or event-related industries is beneficial but not required.
