The Human Resources Business Analyst (HRBA) serves as a strategic partner between HR, Payroll, and other business units. This role is responsible for analyzing HR processes, data, and systems to drive informed decision making, improve operational efficiency, and align HR strategies with organizational goals. The HRBA collaborates closely with HR leadership, IT, finance, payroll, and other departments to develop insights and solutions that support workforce planning, talent management, compensation, and HR systems optimization.
 
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for all new employee and benefits overviews (assist HR Specialist with the management of cases in BenefitsSolver
  • Provide accurate and timely information to MSUB Payroll regarding benefit enrollment and retirement; this work is coordinated with the HR Specialist.
  • Provide new employees with benefit information and support employees by answering questions
  • Perform ACA Reporting
  • Process Terminations/Resignations/Retirements
  • Conduct Exit Interviews
  • Perform ongoing audits and reconciliation of new employee entry and benefits (in BenefitsSolver) collaboratively with the HR Specialist. This includes running reports and ensuring information is correct in BenefitsSolver.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement across workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, engagement, compensation, and benefits.
  • Partner with HR stakeholders to define business requirements for new initiatives, system enhancements, and process improvements
  • Design and maintain HR dashboards, reports, and KPIs using tools such as Excel, Tableau, Banner, Benefits Solver, People Admin, Canvas, etc.
  • Evaluate and optimize HRIS functionality (e.g.,Banner, People Admin, and Benefits Solver).
  • Implementation and Management of New Hire ticket system.
  • Collaborate with IT and vendors to implement or enhance HR technologies (Canvas, AI, Qualtrics, website, etc.)
  • Support compliance and audit requirements through accurate data management and documentation.
  • Conduct benchmarking and workforce analytics to support strategic HR planning and organizational development.
  • Document business processes, create SOPs, and provide recommendations for workflow automation.
  • Assist in change management and communication efforts related to HR initiatives and systems changes.
  • Management of DocuSign forms 
  • Support Director with initiatives and analysis as needed
  • Cross training in all Human Resources duties and tasks

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Regularly required to sit throughout the day
  • Operation of a computer throughout the day
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • This position requires in-state travel including overnight stays for various University System meetings, conferences, committees, and negotiations. Up to 3 trips per month could be required during active labor negotiations, however, the average travel will be less.
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree required; however, additional years of relevant HR or higher education experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience Required: 3 or more years’ experience working with systems in Human Resources and/or higher education.

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience Preferred: 3 years or more of experience in Banner and/of HRIS. Prior involvement in HR projects; benefits, new hire processes, system implementation/management.
