Assistant Professor of Microbiology, Tenure Track, 1.0 FTE, Fall 2025. The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field (ABD may be considered) with expertise in general microbiology. Appointment will be within the College of Health Professions and Science https://www.msubillings.edu/chps/ and housed within our newly renovated state-of-the-art facility. MSUB is situated at the nexus of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, Rocky Mountains, and the Great Plains, while also located just blocks from one of the largest medical hubs in the region. Instructional duties will primarily include teaching General Microbiology, Principles of Biology, Discover Biology, and other courses as needs dictate with the opportunity to develop new courses in your area of expertise. Online development and delivery of selected courses may be a component of the instructional load. Establishment and active management of a discipline-related research program involving undergraduates is expected. Evidence of high quality, innovative college teaching experience and potential for productive, externally-funded research in an undergraduate, liberal arts setting are required. Salary dependent on experience and on collective bargaining agreement.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level
- Potential for productive, externally-funded research program
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience teaching General Microbiology
- Interest in online course delivery
- Experience mentoring undergraduate researchers
