The Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages invites applications for the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to teach first and second-year writing composition, among other writing courses, beginning in the Fall of 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department, college, and/or university committees. Excellence in teaching is expected, both in the classroom and in advising and mentoring students outside the classroom. Opportunities to develop additional courses in the candidate’s specialty area exist. The teaching load for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer is 24 credits for the academic year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters or Ph.D in English or a related field
- Experience teaching beginning and intermediate composition writing at the college level
- Experience and commitment to teaching general education courses and working with at-risk students
- Ability and interest in undergraduate teaching
- Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability and willingness to advance the Department’s agenda in curricular reform and education
- Familiarity with D2L or a similar online course management system
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities
- Experience with program assessment
